Q: How long have you been with Oxford?
A: 25 years. It’ll be 26 at the beginning of December.

Q: How has Oxford grown and changed since you started working here?
A: I would say we’ve very much evolved with the times and technologies. When I first started, there was no internet or email. It was mail or fax. I began in the Software/Hardware group and moved into Engineering. Then, we started up our Life Sciences group from Engineering, and that’s where I am now.

Q: How has the industry changed since Oxford started?
A: Especially now, it’s become more digital with both clients and Oxford. We have managed to evolve with technology and industry changes while keeping to the principles that have proven to be successful over the years. Regarding the consultants and clients we partner with, the skill sets have changed, especially in Life Sciences. The pharma and biotech industries have changed so much, and you really have to keep up with it.

Q: How do you feel you have contributed to Oxford’s success in your time here?
A: One unique contribution I’ve made was initiating a Life Sciences office within our Local operations. After having spent my career in the national group and recognizing the prime market in this region for Life Sciences, I saw this as an exciting challenge. Since then, I feel our presence has made a significant impression on the local market.

Q: Can you share a memorable moment you had at Oxford?
A: There’s been so many, but I think it probably would be being awarded Local Sales Team of the Year in 2020, it was unexpected and really special.

Q: What keeps you at Oxford?
A: First and foremost, my coworkers and the friends I’ve made over the years. It has gone from a job to a career. I’m thankful that I’ve been here as long as I have.

Q: How do you think Oxford’s core values contribute to its success as a business?
A: I would say that one of the things that I like the most is that we have a fairly clear vision of where we want to go and how we will get there. Individualized thinking and new ideas are encouraged, but we also stick to what we have found to be successful over the years.

Q: What’s next for Oxford?
A: I think we will continue to grow in exciting Life Sciences areas. There are a lot of great emerging technologies in Life Sciences, and I believe we will continue to be a part of that.

Q: What has been the most rewarding part for you as an Oxford employee?
A: When I moved to local, I learned just how much of a real community the Boston LS industry is. So many people are connected and we joke that it’s two degrees of separation instead of the usual six. It seems everyone knows each other. I also feel strongly that we’ve gained an excellent reputation in the area.

Q: If you could give advice to yourself 25 years ago, what would it be?
A: Stay with it because it will be worth it.

Q: How has the business adapted to changes in technology and market trends?
A: We’ve been changing all along, and I think we keep up with the different areas we support. We stay abreast of what’s going on out there. We’ve added project services to our core staff augmentation model, and I believe it will keep us vital for the future.

Q: How have the relationships with clients/consultants evolved over the last 40 years?
A: I can personally say that I have a lot of people who have gone from strictly client relationships to friends. The client/consultant part has changed in that I always meet the client and consultant in person. It helps me to keep in touch with both sides of the business.

Q: What message would you like to share with those who have supported Oxford over the years?
A: I would like to say thank you and express my gratitude to all the people who have helped me turn a job into a career and something I have really enjoyed. It’s nice to say that you like your job, and that’s what happened over the years.

Q: How are you going to celebrate this milestone?
A: Mostly with my coworkers. Enjoying it with my team and sharing anything I can do to help. One of the things I appreciate about my long tenure is the opportunity to share my experiences with those who are newer; I hope it helps them as they progress in their own careers.
