The Challenge
A life sciences start-up sought a resource to complete a gap audit against their Amazon Web Services™ (AWS) environment. As they lacked in-house AWS knowledge, they took advantage of Oxford Global Resources’ expertise to understand the AWS VPC build more clearly and receive support on solution architecture. If the client could not complete the build, they would have faced several application license expenditures, less support, and more significant security issues.
The Solution
We created a dedicated team of resources to support this client — from behind-the-scenes assistance to project management and weekly status reports. Our team conducted an AWS assessment of the current environment into the production environment to identify what the end goal should be. This assessment included scalability for times when the usage would be higher. The client also required security, network experience, cloud formation, and disaster backup and recovery. In addition, we provided professional candidates experienced in every phase of the project, from development to deployment. Our expert team:
- Reviewed a production environment in parallel with the development
- Reviewed use of resource groups in AWS
- Evaluated availability zones and disaster recovery
- Reviewed AWS Networking
- Reviewed IAM
- Reviewed VPC architecture
The Result
Once we completed the initial phases of the project, we began training and knowledge transfer so that the client’s internal staff could continue after our team’s departure. In addition, we continued to run in-depth AWS assessment tools to conduct reviews and provide cost savings while running development activities.
