IBM Maximo
A global automotive manufacturer was in need of an upgrade to their enterprise asset management system from IBM Maximo 5.2 to 7.5. Converting to the new system required guidance from senior consultants who could support migration services, project management, and training. With a focus on improving operations and productivity, the goal was to achieve a seamless go-live across 11 sites throughout North America. To ensure consistent knowledge transfer and best practices across all locations, they needed the right subject matter experts to help execute a coordinated project strategy.
Drawing on Oxford’s extensive network, we quickly identified and placed 15 senior IT consultants, each having a minimum of 12 years of experience and intimate knowledge of the automotive industry. Our team supported data cleansing and migration processes by working with business users to gather requirements and scrub and validate data. Through close collaboration with our client, our consultants determined how to collect and categorize data for Assets and Inventory. In order to limit the amount of required customizations, they then created data sets before they existed in their new environment. Additional project tasks included Reconciliation, Asset Reconciliation, Wall-to-Wall Assets, Inventory, Scan Asset Tags, and Upload and Reconcile in real time.
To prepare all 11 manufacturing plants for go-live, our team developed a training management program. Working directly with senior business leaders at our client’s headquarters, our consultants deployed classroom-based and one-on-one training sessions across all 11 locations, traveling intermittently to local plants to assist with mentoring and training.
After two years of careful planning and preparation, our client achieved a successful upgrade. With help from Oxford’s team, all 11 locations were fully trained and ready for go-live. They experienced a smooth launch with no downtime to the production line – ensuring their equipment, manufacturing processes, and teams were up to speed with the latest enterprise asset management system.
After the project, our client extended contracts with Oxford for several consultants to provide post go-live and additional system support needs.
