Award-Winning Functional Service Provider for Global Biopharma Company

The Challenge
Our client was struggling with fluctuating project sizes, business re-orientation, and lack of internal bandwidth to recruit, train, and retain qualified resources for their clinical department. They were seeking a partner to implement a Functional Service Provider (FSP) model that would allow them to maintain functional control on all clinical trial operations while lowering costs, securing program flexibility, and improving retention of resources. We were chosen as an FSP to provide clinical research associates (CRA) and clinical trial assistants (CTA), along with onboarding, training, line management (LM), and IT services for those consultants.

The Solution
Our team partnered closely with the client to obtain a thorough understanding of the quality, oversight, and alignment required by the right team of resources. We leveraged our scientific-focused delivery team to identify the best-fit consultants with preferred qualifications defined by our client. In total, we provided nearly 30 consultants through our FSP program, including CRAs and CTAs, along with program management resources like an FSP trainer, CRA line manager, CTA line manager, and a dedicated client solutions manager to oversee the program. Since our FSP solution launched, our client has realized marked improvements on their clinical line management, training, HR functions, and IT tools and support. Our solution allowed our client to retain function control and stabilize retention, resulting in a more flexible workforce. Since our support began, we have maintained a retention rate of 94% and provided highly qualified resources, creating ongoing cost-savings for the client. Considered an experienced and trusted partner, we were selected as this client’s FSP partner in 2009 and are currently in our third extension of the program through 2022. We have received the award for Supplier of the Year twice during the span of our engagement.
