CapEx & Maintenance Project Support Post-Acquisition

The Challenge

A manufacturer of specialty chemicals used in water-intensive industries acquired a producer of hygiene, infection prevention, and cleaning solutions. This created several organizational changes and drove a need to upgrade and invest in their manufacturing production plants.

Oxford learned that an EHS Manager left the organization, so they needed immediate onsite support with audit preparation, some Process Safety Management (PSM) SOP development, and staff training.

Later, Oxford assisted with the scope of work relating to upgrading and enhancing multiple manufacturing production plants across North America.

The Solution

We helped identify a CapEx Project Manager with a maintenance and chemical production plant background for each location. We ensured each location could leverage the best talent to help extend the corporate presence while getting plant buy-in for the required changes, including:

• Capital Expenditure projects
• Equipment upgrades or overhauls
• New equipment vendor & OEM coordination
• Project controls for cost, estimating, scheduling, and coordinating SAT activities
• Predictive and preventative maintenance assessments for improvements
• Integration and organization of each plant’s maintenance department to tie into the CMMS

We worked with the client to identify a Project Manager for each site in order of priority, including Milwaukee, WI, Portland, OR, South Charleston, WV, and London, Ontario. Since talent was hard to find in Canada, we decided to bring two resources onsite.

The Result

We continue to manage each assignment and track the progress in each production facility. The next facilities will be Denver, CO and Altamira, Mexico. The relationship was so strong that the client and Oxford agreed to recognize PTO for two Project Managers. Each consultant can report ten days of PTO, for which we pay for an eight-hour day. The client will apply this against their purchase order.
